In the present thesis “Comparative analysis of the mechanical properties of asphalt mixtures with incorporation of PVC residues as filler in an optimal percentage“, the comparative analysis of the mechanical properties (stability and flow) of a standard asphalt concrete against a modified asphalt concrete with the incorporation of PVC residues as filler, carrying out physical-mechanical tests such as the resistance of bituminous mixtures using the Marshall apparatus. In the present investigation, for the designs of both conventional asphalt mixtures and modified asphalt mixtures, the same aggregates were used (aggregate from the Ccosco Ayllo quarry and used in the asphalt plant of the Regional Government of Cusco), the same gradation ( MAC-2) and the same asphalt cement (BETUTEC PG 70-28), only varying the incorporation of PVC residues as filler in the modified asphalt mix. For the quality control of the aggregate and the design of hot asphalt mixtures, the guidelines established in the Materials Testing Manual, General Technical Specifications Manual for Highway Construction E.G. 2013 and regulation CE.010 for Urban Pavements, considering seven percentages of asphalt cement (4.00%, 4.50%, 5.00%, 5.50%, 6.00%, 6.50% and 7.00%) to determine the optimal asphalt content with the method of asphalt institute, to later compare the mechanical properties (stability and flow) of the standard mixture with the mechanical properties of the modified mixture with PVC incorporation (0.50%, 0.75%, 1.00%, 1.25% and 1.50%). Finally, after comparatively analyzing the standard asphalt mix with the modified asphalt mix with PVC residues, it was concluded that by including PVC as a filler, the mechanical properties (stability and flow) of the asphalt mix increased, however, the optimal content of incorporation of PVC as filler was 0.50% due to higher percentages exceeding the flow limit for asphalt mixes.
