This research is aimed at the impact that the application of Risk analysis has on the budget and schedule of a civil work carried out by the District Municipality of San Sebastián in Cusco applying the del Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) methodology. For the investigation, we worked with the general risks that arise in a civil work in general in the planning and execution stage. For the risk identification stage, interviews were carried out with engineers who currently hold positions of managers, assistant managers, area heads and construction residents of the infrastructure management of different municipalities. General risks were identified, of which 22 are technical risks, 20 management risks, 13 commercial risks and 13 external risks. 26 individual risks were also identified that were divided according to the item. For the qualitative analysis, we also worked with engineers who work in the District Municipality of San Sebastián since the present research was applied to this entity and as such present’s particularities that the heads of the different infrastructure areas, supervisors and residents know. Through this analysis, high, moderate and low risks are prioritized. In the quantitative analysis stage, the @Risk program was used and individual risks were worked with the critical path schedule and budget of the items in the Technical File of a civil work executed in the direct administration modality. The necessary contingency for the budget and schedule of the work in which the Risk analysis was carried out was obtained as a result and then compared with the budget and scheduled and executed schedule. A response plan was also created for general risks that had a high prioritization; In the same way for the individual risks that were taken according to the simulation of the @Risk program and we worked with the risk that had the highest percentage of influence on the game. The results were obtained for the general risks, a moderate prioritization and for the individual risks, a budget incidence of 4.79% with respect to the programmed budget and a schedule incidence of 119.39% with respect to the programmed schedule. According to the results, the application of Risk analysis in a project allows us to minimize the probability of occurrence and impact of negative events, thus improving planning, construction processes and internal organization within the District Municipality of San Sebastián.
