The following research work, called “Analysis of the characteristics of the basin in the debris flow of the Hatun Huayco stream - A.P.V. Ferroviarios in the District of Saylla, Province of Cusco“, has as its main objective to analyze the characteristics that influence the occurrence of a debris flow, which is commonly known as huayco. Among the main factors influencing this natural disaster, we find hydrological factors, through the constant rainfall that causes soil erosion, we also find topographic factors, which mainly refer to the slope of the ravine, and finally geological factors, which mainly focuses on the type of soil that makes it susceptible to the fall of the huayco. The methodology used has a quantitative approach, descriptive-correlational level and experimental methodological design, which consists of carrying out flights with a drone capable of making detailed topographic surveys, this activity was carried out in three stages, in the first stage, the survey of the lower zone of the ravine was carried out; In the second stage, the intermediate zone, and finally the third stage, the upper zone of the ravine; once the field work was done, it was necessary to process the data in the office with the use of ARC-Gis software, in order to obtain the contour lines at a distance of 0. 5m. Subsequently, a study was made of the software capable of performing a mathematical modeling of the phenomenon in question; by means of INGEMMET professionals, we were able to find the required software called RAMMS DebrisFlow, from which a study was made to observe the required soil and hydrological parameters. The calculation of the unit hydrograph was made to insert the data into the program, which gave us as a result a maximum flow of 2.6m3/s in a return period of 100 years. Within the SUCS soil classification, we obtained as a result that the soil under study is a poorly graded sand (SP). Likewise, within the topographic parameters, we obtained a very steep and abrupt slope within the 80%-100% range. Once the required parameters were found and studied, the landslide was modeled in the aforementioned program, resulting in a debris flow of high intensity, with 28,060.5m3, affecting part of the population of the A.P.V. Ferroviarios.
