Borde anterior 18,45 mm; borde posterior 12.92 mm; borde superior 21,16; borde
This study had as Objective: This study aimed to determine the anatomical and radiological variations of the mandibular foramen in relation to the borders of the ascending ramus of the mandible using cone beam tomography. Materials and Methods: A non-experimental, descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional, and observational study was conducted, involving the analysis of 70 cone beam tomographies from the Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging Department at "Luis Vallejo Santoni" University. The selection of tomographies adhered to the established criteria for this research. Results: The study revealed that anatomical and radiological variations of the mandibular foramen in terms of its length to the borders of the ascending ramus of the mandible on both sides were as follows: Anterior border 18.45 mm, posterior border 12.92 mm, superior border 21.16 mm, and inferior border 27.31 mm. In the anteroposterior or horizontal direction, the mandibular foramen was found to be closer to the posterior border, while in the superoinferior or vertical direction, it was closer to the superior border. Conclusions: In conclusion, in horizontal terms (from front to back), the mandibular foramen is situated closer to the posterior border, whereas in vertical terms (from top to bottom), it is positioned closer to the superior border.
