Objective To determine the level of knowledge about complications from oral piercings among secondary school students at the Jorge Chávez Chaparro Educational Institution in the city of Cusco in 2024. Materials and Methods This was a quantitative study with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. Anonymous questionnaires were administered to 146 students from the third, fourth, and fifth grades of secondary school. Results It was observed that the highest percentage of students had average knowledge regarding the complications of oral piercings. Female students had less knowledge (47.9%). The age group of 16 years had the most knowledge (40.4%), followed by those of 15 years (30.1%) and 14 years (29.5%). Regarding knowledge of complications during the piercing process, average knowledge was recorded (47.3%). In terms of knowledge of short-term complications, average knowledge was observed (43.8%). Regarding knowledge of long-term complications, poor knowledge was noted (45.9%). Concerning knowledge of complication localization, poor knowledge was reported (50.0%). Conclusion It was noted that the highest percentage of students from the third, fourth, and fifth grades at the Jorge Chávez Chaparro Educational Institution displayed average and poor knowledge about the complications from using oral piercings.
