The undergraduate thesis contributes to the study and analysis of the road condition and capacity by applying the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method and the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM 2016) methodology; where a statistical analysis is also developed to see the degree of correlation of our variables and to see how the PCI value influences the level of service. In turn, it aims to make solution proposals to improve the geometric characteristics, level of service and pavement condition. The study area is from Recoleta Street to the Q'enqo Archaeological Center with a study length of 5.140 km; which has a high vehicular flow, being a main road that connects with important places such as Sacsayhuaman, Cristo Blanco and Q'enqo; which in turn is a stretch that presents a deterioration in the pavement which makes it to be in less-than-optimal conditions. Consequently, it is important to promote routine maintenance of the road for a favorable and beneficial operation. The results obtained for the level of service for two-lane roads give a level of service “E”, while the section with traffic-light and non-signalized intersections has a level of service “D” with high delays. As for the condition of the pavement, 26% of the pavement is “Good”, 42% “Fair”, 26% “Poor”, 5% “Very Poor” and 1% “Excellent”, resulting in an average road condition of “Fair”. Finally, it was shown that the PCI has a degree of correlation with speed, from which a formula is obtained that represents a pavement condition factor (FPCI), which, when increased to the free flow formula, will allow us to identify adequate values.
