The association of physical activity with lumbar degenerative disc disease is a topic of interest and research within the medical and scientific communities. The perception of this association may vary and is influenced by the available evidence, clinical guidelines, and expert opinions. It is essential to know that this association can be given by excess and / or deficiency of physical activity. The objective of the present study was to determine the association of physical activity with lumbar degenerative disc disease in the neurosurgery service of the Antonio Lorena Cusco Hospital, in 2021, in addition to knowing the age group, gender, occupation, body mass index, as well as to analyze the relationship existing between physical activity associated with conditions generated by lumbar degenerative disc disease—quantitative study, of scope or observationale and correlational purpose, of an experimental type. The sample consisted of 113 patients. As a result, it was observed that the most frequent age group was between 40 - 49 and 50 and 59 years, both with 29.2%, being the most frequent gender that attended the consultation the Males with 57.5%. Regarding the patients' profession, the Elementary Occupations group had the highest percentage (26.5%), followed by Farmers and skilled agricultural, forestry, and fishing workers (18.6%). The highest percentage present regarding BMI was for the Overweight group (33.6%), followed by those who obtained a Normal BMI (27.4%). Regarding the international physical activity questionnaire (IPAQ), it was obtained that 40.7% of the patients presented a moderate level of physical activity, not to mention that 34.5% obtained a high level of physical activity. An inverse association was found regarding the association between physical activity and lumbar degenerative disc disease, meaning that less physical activity leads to greater lumbar degenerative disc disease conditions. However, the association was not significant because a p-value was greater than 0.05. These results were significant since they allowed us to know if there is a relationship between both study variables.
