EGEMSA, currently has projects of water support for the continuity of electricity generation by hydroenergy sources, which are approved for starting your Pre-investment stage; the need for the company is to conclude successfully this stage in order to achieve an application for the benefit of the organization, society and the state; since in projects previously carried out, raised events led to its delay effect, cripple or rejection at the time of assessment of feasibility, Affecting the objectives of projects in cost, time and scope. These events are known as risks. Having the appropriate management tools to help keep the project under control will be a great contribution for the company. Entities such as the Project Management Institute (PMI) have compiled the best practices for project management in the PMBOK Guide, which presents a standard exclusively for Project Risk Management, and is the most internationally recognized in the discipline. This research proposes a Risk Management under the PMBOK approach, in the preinvestment stage of the Hydraulic Strengthening Projects of the Electric Generation Company Machupicchu S.A.; In which the background and theoretical bases used for the theoretical framework support the appropriate proposal for risk management and the different inputs and outputs of its processes, generating the necessary content of the proposal for EGEMSA water strengthening projects in the stage Of pre-investment. Expert judgment was required from EGEMSA project management officials for the diagnosis of the projects, and by means of techniques and instruments important data were collected and analyzed in order to provide a Risk Management Plan The appropriate content according to their need and practicality; In the same way, to provide a Risk Register with 30 risks identified by categories and their update to show the qualitative analysis under a Matrix according to the Risk Level and the effects they will have on the main objectives of the projects. It provides a Response Plan to 17 High Impact Risks and it proposes Control Strategies to manage them throughout its development, as a proposal for continuous improvement.
