Biosecurity aims to control the risk factors that have biological, physical or chemical agents as their source before accidents or illnesses occur, in order to later eliminate and minimize them. The Regional Hospital of Cusco has areas that have a series of epidemiological surveillance measures that are predetermined to control the risks that originate in said health facility, in view of the arrival of people with different diseases and who, upon contacting the health staff, these can be affected by infectious diseases because the prevention and biosafety measures are not applied under rigorous criteria, in addition to the staff training does not address issues of Biosecurity and Biological Risks Faced with this reality, it was of interest to carry out the present work called: “ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION OF BIOSECURITY IN THE HANDLING OF THE SOLID HOSPITAL RESIDUES IN THE AREA OF CONSERVATION AND SURVEILLANCE OF THE REGIONAL HOSPITAL OF CUSCO, 2018“, from which important information was obtained regarding the knowledge of the personnel on Biosecurity, the use of Personal Protection Equipment, as well as the management of hospital solid waste. Surveys were applied to the personnel of the areas involved in the management of hospital solid waste constituting a universe of 31 people. The studies carried out went hand in hand with the area of Epidemiology, which provided bibliographic support to the extent that was needed to obtain relevant information on hospital solid waste management processes. The stages of hospital solid waste management were analyzed and evaluated using different instruments: DOP's, DAP'S, Matrix G.E.M.A., Matrix IPERC, and Evaluation Sheets. These instruments were applied to 7 stages of the Management of Hospital Solid Waste within the Regional Hospital of Cusco: Conditioning, Primary Storage, Intermediate Storage, Internal Transportation, Central Storage and Treatment, of which deficiencies were found in 5 of the stages such as malnutrition. use of cleaning materials, incorrect signage, lack of space and distribution of storage areas which put at risk the health of the hospital staff and especially to patients. But there were also 2 areas with an acceptable performance due to the knowledge of the process which led the staff to optimally perform their work. Which led us to the conclusion that the main problem is the lack of TRAINING AND AWARENESS to the personnel not only of the conservation and surveillance area, but to all the personnel that work in the Regional Hospital of Cusco. With these findings it is proposed to implement the topics of Biosecurity, Biological Risks, and Biological Pollution Agents to the training of all the personnel of the Hospital, as well as to reinforce the issues that were already addressed in previous training in order to raise awareness and keep always informed. to the staff to obtain a good performance in favor of the Regional Hospital as an Institution and above all for the good of the citizens who come every day to this Health Institution.
