Abstract: El estudio busca conocer la depresión en pacientes infectados por VIH/SIDA, todos atendidos en el Hospital Regional de Cusco: para ello se aplicó el Inventario de Depresión de Beck II, compuesto de 21 ítems y una Encuesta Sociodemográfica de 28 preguntas, a un total de 53 pacientes entre varones y mujeres adultos. El tipo de investigación es no experimental y el diseño descriptivo simple. Se demostró que estos pacientes con diagnóstico de seropositividad, presentan depresión en todos los niveles, destacando la presencia de sintomatología en los niveles moderado y severo. Se encontró también que la mayoría de pacientes con depresión mínima, tiene edades entre
26 a 30 años; con depresión leve, pacientes de entre 41 a más años, y con depresión moderada, la mayoría se encuentra en el rango de edad de entre 31 a 35 años, así como con depresión severa. En todos los niveles de depresión la mayoría de pacientes son varones, destacando mayorías considerables en los niveles mínimo y severo; la mayoría de pacientes, con diagnósticos a todo nivel, se encuentran en el estadio de paciente asintomático; la mayoría de pacientes son homosexuales, contrajeron el virus por vía sexual, y se encuentran en el estadio de la infección de paciente asintomático.
The study seeks to know depression in patients infected with HIV / AIDS, all attended at the Regional Hospital of Cusco: the Beck II Depression Inventory, composed of 21 items and a 28-question Sociodemographic Survey, was applied to a total of 53 patients between men and adult women. The type of research is non-experimental and the descriptive design is simple. It was demonstrated that these patients, with a diagnosis of seropositivity, present depression at all levels, emphasizing the presence of symptomatology in the moderate and severe levels. It was also found that most patients, with minimal depression, are between 26 and 30 years; with mild depression, patients aged 41 to over and with moderate depression, most are in the age range of 31 to 35 years, as well as with severe depression. At all levels of depression, the majority of patients are males, highlighting considerable majorities at the minimum and severe levels; the majority of patients with diagnoses at all levels, are in the stage of asymptomatic patient; the majority of patients are homosexual, contracted the virus sexually, and they are at the stage of infection of asymptomatic patient.
