The present research objective was to determine the relationship between occlusal conditions and temporomandibular disorders in patients attending the Luis Vallejos Santoni Stomatologic Clinic of the UAC, Cusco 2016. The basis of this research is the intrinsic relationship between occlusal alteration and joint disorder, is not a paradigm that is always fulfilled. However, occlusal analysis should always be an essential requirement in the exploration of the dysfunctional patient since many studies show that it may represent a first-order etiological factor. Data collection was performed in the academic semester 2016-II in the area of clinical diagnosis. The population consisted of 535 patients who met the inclusion criteria and the sample was obtained from probabilistic type, for a qualitative type of research, with a confidence level of 95%, with an accuracy of 2%, the sample obtained Was 200 patients. We used a data collection form developed by the researcher and Helkimo index, used to determine the prevalence and severity of temporo mandibular disorders being this one the instruments with more precision and used as gold standard in many investigations. The following were found: prevalence, 94% of the sample had TMD and only 6% had no TMD, being affected as follows: female sex with 64% and male sex with 30%, with respect to The severity of TMD results are as follows: mild 69.5%, moderate 21% and severe 3.5%. Regarding the relationship between occlusal conditions and TMD, it was found that class malocclusion, interference in lateral movements, discrepancy between OC-RC, functional alterations and mastication are related to or dependence on severity Of the TMD.
