Introduction: Older adults require significant demands of care, aggravating this, if they are dependent, being necessary to have the help of caregivers, if this event is not properly managed will determine a level of burnout in the impact of care, quality of interpersonal relationship, the relationship with their appearance, expectations of self-efficacy or others, which will compromise the health of both the patient and the caregiver, even more if the latter is not trained for care and does not receive economic remuneration. Objective: To determine the level of burnout in informal caregivers of geriatric dependent older adults at the Adolfo Guevara Velasco National Hospital, July - October 2022. Method: Quantitative, observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, descriptive study. The sample consisted of 175 informal caregivers of the dependent elderly at the Hospital Nacional Adolfo Guevara Velasco 2022. The sociodemographic survey and Zarit scale were used as an instrument for data collection, allowing the study with frequency distribution, percentages, parametric Chi- square test, with a 95% confidence interval with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: At a general level, 73.7% showed intense burnout, 16.6% showed mild burnout and only 9.7% showed no burnout. In relation to the dimension of the impact of caregiving, 50.3% showed mild overload, 50.9% showed no overload in interpersonal relationships, and 49.1% showed mild overload in self-efficacy expectations. Conclusion: The level of burnout of informal caregivers of dependent older adults is a significant problem with a significant impact on the health and well-being of both the caregivers and the older adults themselves.
