The main objective of this research is to evaluate the effect of PBL on the development of critical thinking skills with primary school students of Educational Institution No. 50868 Fernando Túpac Amaru. A quasi-experimental design was implemented, consisting of two groups with pre- and post-tests. The sample covered two classrooms: section A with 30 students and section B with 30 students. The intervention involved the application of Problem- Based Learning (PBL) over a period of three months, using specially designed learning sessions. The instrument used was a questionnaire that evaluated 6 dimensions of critical thinking skills: interpretation, analysis, inference, explanation, evaluation and self-regulation. This questionnaire was applied both before and after the intervention to measure the level of development of these skills. The results obtained show the Z value of -6.657 and a p value of 0.000 based on the Wilcoxon signed rank test, indicating a significant difference before and after the intervention. This suggests that implementing PBL in the classroom can be effective in promoting critical thinking in fourth grade students.
