Introduction: Urinary tract infection is one of the most frequent medical complications in pregnancy, anywhere in the world; significantly affecting the mother and the product of pregnancy and generates a serious public health problem. Objective: To determine the epidemiology, clinical and microbiological characteristics of urinary tract infection in pregnant women treated at The Adolfo Guevara Velasco Essalud National Hospital -Cusco Methodology: A non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study performed at the Adolfo Guevara Velasco National Hospital during the period January to December of 2018 in 239 pregnant women with a diagnosis of urinary tract infection who met the criteria selection. A review of medical record was made, a database was entered, SPSS version 24 was used for data processing, with descriptive and basic inferential statistics. Results: Of the 239 pregnant women; 64% are older than or equal to 30 years; 74.5% have a higher level of education; 37.7% of the civil status was cohabiting; 38.1% had a housewife occupation, the most frequent clinical form was cystitis with 52.3%; pelvic pain with 69.9%, lumbar pain with 48.5% and dysuria with 42.7% were the predominant symptoms; 43.1% were in the third trimester of gestational age; in 51% there were no associated complications; However, the threat of preterm delivery was the most frequent with 17.6%, the only isolated germ was Escherichia coli with 14.6%; and was sensitive to Carbapenems, Cephalosporins, Norfloxacin and Nitrofurantoin; and resistant to Ampicillin and Trimetroprim / sulfamethoxazole Conclusion: The infection of the urinary tract was more frequent in pregnant women with age greater than or equal to 30 years, with higher education, cohabiting; the predominant clinical form was cistitis, the predominant symptoms were pelvic pain, back pain and dysuria; in the III trimester of pregnancy; the threat of preterm delivery was the most frequent complication; E. coli, was the only isolated etiologic agent; and was sensitive to Carbapenems, Cephalosporins, Norfloxacin and Nitrofurantoin; and resistant to Ampicillin and Trimetroprim / sulfamethoxazole
