The contamination of surface water by phosphates present in detergents is one of the environmental problems that should be considered with greater importance and economic phosphate removal techniques should be developed. This research was based on the study of phosphate removal using the adsorption method. For which an activated carbon was elaborated from peach endocarp of which the characteristics of humidity, ashes and volatile material were determined, then the impregnation with H3PO4 at 85 % and a carbonization at 550 °C were carried out. In addition, a yield of the precursor material of more than 40 % was obtained, after which the characterization of the activated carbon was carried out, having an apparent density of 0.59 g/cm3, humidity 2.42 %, ash 2.72 %, fixed carbon 97.74 %, granulometry of 75 µm, pH of 6. 15 and methylene blue removal percentage of 98.6 % all within the values of NTP 0.27.025-1982, ASTM Standard D- 1762 and NTP 311.331-2019, finally a detergent solution was prepared at laboratory level at a concentration of 30 mg/L and an initial phosphate concentration of 1. 96 mg/L, phosphate removal was performed by jar test of 11 repetitions combining the factors of pH, amount of adsorbent and time obtaining as a result a higher adsorption capacity of 3.07 mg/g and a removal of 78.33 % of phosphates at a pH of 8, time 30 minutes and amount of adsorbent of 0.13 g all the tests were worked at an agitation speed of 400 rpm and phosphates were determined by UV-Vis spectrophotometry at 830 nm.
