The present research work focuses on establishing the effects of the Gross Public Debt on the Economic and Fiscal Growth of Peru for the years 2001 - 2016, focusing its study on establishing the effects, influences and periods in which the Debt affected whether positively or negatively in the Peruvian economy and therefore in the sovereign risk rating of the same, in turn the research seeks to project the level of gross public debt that leads to long-term economic growth ensuring macroeconomic sustainability and fiscal of the economy. The research is mainly correlational, causal and longitudinal, working with a secondary database provided by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru; being a work that uses macroeconomic aggregates, the research has a national scope, thus affecting the knowledge that the Peruvian population has about public finances. Finally, the findings of this study were carried out through a series of econometric models that helped to quantify the levels of Gross Public Debt as a function of GDP, with the result that the increase in Debt has a positive effect on the Peruvian economy and long-term fiscal sustainability, making it clear that the government has until now a responsible management of public finances, which leads to a favorable macroeconomic situation.
