Introduction: Cesarean section in recent years has been increasing for many reasons, despite the parameters recommended by the WHO, which should range between 10-15%. The Cusco Regional Hospital presented 3945 deliveries of which 1621 ended in cesarean section with 44% of the total. Objective: To determine the factors associated with the increase in caesarean sections in pregnant women attended in the maternity service of the Regional Hospital of Cusco, 2019. Material and method: Non-experimental, descriptive, retrospective, analytical cross-sectional study, carried out at the Cusco Regional Hospital during the period from January to December 2019, in 300 patients who underwent caesarean section in the maternity service of said hospital. A review of medical records was performed to fill in the data collection form, a database was entered, the SPSS 25 version was used for data processing, with descriptive and inferential basic statistics. Results: The main factors associated with the increase in caesarean sections at the Cusco Regional Hospital in 2019 were maternal causes in 51.7%, followed by fetal causes in 33.7% and ovular causes in 14.6 %. 67.3% correspond to the group of 20 to 34 years of age, 77.0% cohabitants, 50.7% have a secondary educational level, previous or previous caesarean section 31.3%, primiparous 46.7%, gestational age at term (37 to 41 weeks) 80.7% and with prenatal control 73.3%. Product dystocia, acute fetal distress, and fetal macrosomia are associated factors that increase caesarean sections by 51.5%, 20.85, and 20.8%, respectively. Premature rupture of membranes, oligohydramnios, placenta previa are associated factors that increase caesarean sections by 34.1%, 34.1% and 20.5% respectively. Conclusions: The factor associated with the increase of caesarean sections in the Maternity Service of the Regional Hospital of Cusco is the previous caesarean section.
