The present thesis aims at comparing the physical-mechanical properties and volumetric parameters of a traditional asphalt concrete against a modified asphalt concrete with polypropylene particles, by physical-mechanical tests (resistance of bituminous mixtures using the Marshall apparatus and resistance of compacted asphalt mixtures resistance induced damage moisture) and volumetric parameters (Void in the mineral aggregate, voids filled with air, voids filled with asphalt and effective asphalt), using the same stone materials, filler and asphalt cement for both mixing designs. Amaru Pampa and Morro Blanco quarries, coarse aggregate of Cay Cay, IP portland cement as filler and conventional asphalt cement PEN 85/100) and in addition the polypropylene particles (from the crushing Made of plastic caps With this material) The quality control of the aggregates was carried out by means of tests standardized by the National Regulation of Buildings CE.010 of Urban Pavements and Manual of General Technical Specifications for Road Construction EG-2013, to design a hot asphalt mixture and to determine the content Optimum asphalt by the Marshall design method for hot asphalt mixtures, considering eight percentages (3.0%, 3.5%, 4.0%, 4.5%, 5.0%, 5.5%, 6.0% and 6.5%) with respect to the total weight of the mixture , And once the optimal content of asphalt cement was determined, the optimum content of polypropylene particles was determined using four percentages (0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%) with respect to the total weight of the mixture. Finally, after the comparative analysis between a traditional hot asphalt mix and a modified hot asphalt blend with polypropylene particles, it was concluded that as this material is increased, the physical-mechanical properties of the asphalt mixtures are improved However, the behavior of a modified hot asphalt mixture up to 2.0% of polypropylene particles by weight of the total of the mixture was only evaluated in the present research thesis, since when this percentage increases the grain size of the combined material is no longer Within the granulometric parameters established in the aforementioned standards.
