The main objective of this research thesis is the implementation of new proposals to improve the quality of adobe units without excessively increasing the cost of these. The inhabitants of the remote communities build with adobe, ignoring the vulnerability of the earth constructions, however they build with the knowledge of the different dangers that threaten their security, for this reason an analysis of the physical and mechanical properties was carried out (dimensional variability, absorption by capillary action, accelerated erosion and compressive strength) of the traditional adobe units, as well as of the adobe units added with snow lime at 6%, 8% and 10%, the compressive strength according to the E.080 standard it is 12 kg / cm2, and the CE 020 standard indicates that to add quicklime or hydrated lime to the soil, it should be used from 2% to 8% by dry weight of soil; Comparing the characteristics of the units of said adobe added with snow lime, compared to the characteristics of the traditional adobe units, 96 units of adobe were manufactured with the inputs of the district of San Sebastian - Cusco. The development of the research consists of an evaluation that starts from the selection of the material, raw material tests (liquid limit and plastic limit), physical-mechanical tests (dimensional variability, absorption by capillarity, accelerated erosion and resistance to compression) of the traditional adobe units and adobe units added with snow lime. The comparison of the same, generated favorable results for the adobes added with snow lime, since these adobes have better physicalmechanical properties (dimensional variability, absorption by capillary action, accelerated erosion and resistance to compression) and a better behavior against contact with the water that the traditional adobe units. It was possible to compare the studied physical-mechanical properties, arriving at the following conclusion: The adobes added with 8.0% of snow lime, give better results; as well as absorption by capillarity with 6.55%, accelerated erosion with 3mm of hollowness and resistance to compression with 21.36 kg/cm2
