Introduction: The academic performance of Human Medicine students is an indicator of the quality of training of future doctors, so presenting a high or low performance would be an indicator of future professional performance. Objective: Determine the factors associated with academic performance of Human Medicine students at the Andina del Cusco University 2024. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional analytical observational study was carried out on 295 Human Medicine students from the Andean University of Cusco who were doing their medical internship and on students in the graduation process. A 4-section survey was applied which included: sociodemographic characteristics, having a student weighted academic average (PPAE) > or < 15.7 points, drug use and screening for psychological disorders such as ADHD, anxiety and depression. For the bivariate analysis, Chi2 was used and in the multivariate analysis, generalized linear models were used applying the Poisson distribution with a 95% CI and a value of p<0.05. Results: The younger the participants were, the better their academic performance was (median 24 years) as were those who had a study method. While those who smoke and present symptoms suggestive of ADHD, anxiety and depression have lower academic performance. Conclusions: The factors associated with good performance are an age <24 years and having study methods, while those associated with poor performance are smoking and presenting symptoms suggestive of ADHD, anxiety and depression.
