This study aimed to determine those predominant irrational beliefs in psychology students at the Andean University of Cusco, which is why it was decided to work with a non-experimental – transversal – comparative design. For the selection of the sample, simple random sampling at 95% reliability was used, therefore the sample was composed of 423 students. The instrument for data collection was the Ellis Irrational Beliefs Inventory, with an alpha coefficient of 0.82 and an Aiken’s V of 0.92, thus having optimal psychometric properties. The results of the study lead to the conclusion that the predominant irrational beliefs in students are the fifth, eighth and ninth of those proposed by Albert Ellis.
