The research work “RISK OF DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE 2, IN PATIENTS OF EXTERNAL CONSULTANTS FROM THE HOSPITAL REGIONAL DE CUSCO, 2019“; whose objective was to determine the risk of suffering diabetes mellitus type 2, in patients from the Hospital regional de Cusco´s outpatient surgery, 2019. Methodology: A descriptive and transversal study was carried out. The population was form by patients who came to the outpatient services of the Hospital Regional de Cusco who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. A sample of 99 patients was used. The instruments were a survey and an observation guide. Results: General characteristics: 60.61% of patients are female. 36.36% report being single. 47.47% are from urban provenance, 50.51% have a high school education level. 63.64% work independently. 65.66% do not report their birth weight. 68.69% consume alcohol very often. 60.61% never use tobacco. The risk factors: 45.45% are 18 to 45 years old. 41.41% do not report a family history of diabetes. 83.84% do not perform physical activity. 59.60% do not consume fruits and vegetables. 64.65% have not taken medication for hypertension. On 83.84% hyperglycemia were not detected. 41.41% are overweight. 75.00% have a high abdominal perimeter. 33.33% are males. In conclusion: 31.31% of patients from outpatient surgery of the Regional Hospital of Cusco have a slightly elevated risk of suffering from diabetes, 26.26% moderate risk, 22.22% high risk and 4.04% very high risk.
