This research work, responded to the need to know the physical and mechanical properties of wood, used in construction as a structural element, the present study gave us the knowledge of what resources we have, the facilities and possibilities of each wood studied and its time the possibilities of being able to be incorporated into the market as construction material. In the city of Cusco, there is very little information about the physical and mechanical properties of the most commercial woods, so a problem arose in its use and its structural functionality in the construction industry. This research work, focused on evaluating, analyzing and comparing the physical and mechanical properties of the most commercial woods in the city of Cusco, these are the Copaiba, Miza and Zapote woods, specifically the lumberyards that are located on the avenue of the Culture, of the district of San Sebastián. The research was limited to physical properties studies (moisture content test, Basic density test) and mechanical properties (Elasticity Modulus test, Flexion test, Parallel Compression test, Perpendicular Compression test, Parallel Cutting test ) of the Copaiba, Miza and Zapote woods. The research, was limited to perform tests on wood, drying to the environment under normal conditions of relative humidity and temperature for 30 days, and then be dried in the oven before physical and mechanical tests. The objective of the research work was to know if the physical and mechanical properties of Copaiba, Miza and Zapote wood marketed in the main timber centers of the city of Cusco, meet for structural use in construction, for comparison and pre grouping standard E 0.10 of the national building regulations was used.
