This thesis consists of an applied research on programmatic hybridization in cultural buildings that has the purpose of improving the relationship between the city and public spaces, this typology enables the incorporation of a program that helps us to link with public space and the demands of the city, at the same time it allows a great spatial flexibility which is ideal for the project. The land is located in Urb. Industrial Park 2nd stage, Av. República del Perú Mz. J, Lot 01 s/n, premises ex PRONAA. For the location of the proposal, the contextual, climatic conditions and recommendations provided by guidelines and standards applied to public libraries and cultural buildings were taken into account; At the same time, an analysis of international architectural references related to the interests of this research work is developed. Currently, the municipal library of Wanchaq does not have adequate infrastructure to develop the activities required by users, therefore, the relocation and improvement of the service provided by a cultural building is proposed. To start developing a project of this type, a formulation of the area's problems is made, highlighting the little social relationship between the different types of population, as well as the high proportion of industrial and commercial uses, leaving aside the cultural buildings. To mitigate this problem; a library is designed that has flexible environments and public spaces that will connect the project with the immediate context. The library aims not only to offer a space for housing books, it must be an accessible facility that enables the exchange of knowledge between different users, enhancing public space as a link between the community and architecture. Finally, the Wanchaq Public Library project, conceived as a hybrid building, is the most convenient to solve the current problem and deficiency, since it contains a series of programs that allow the development of activities on a regular schedule, which will activate the area during the hour’s day and night, providing the city with a space that meets its recreational, cultural and educational needs.
