Introduction: The World Health Organization defines mental health as a state of wellbeing in which an individual understands his or her abilities, is able to cope with the normal stresses of life, is able to work productively, and is able to get things done. During the COVID-19 pandemic, fear of contracting the virus, combined with changes to daily life brought about by efforts to contain and stop the spread of the virus, have led to changes in people's physical and mental health and healthcare professionals. especially those responsible for caring for infected patients, so it is important to evaluate the mental health of these individuals who are at higher risk of becoming infected. Objectives: To evaluate the mental health of the healthcare personnel of the COVID Area of the Adolfo Guevara Velasco-EsSalud Hospital, Cusco 2020. Methods: it is a quantitative observational cross-sectional non-experimental correlational study, with the participation of 61 workers from the Adolfo Guevara Velasco-EsSalud Hospital, Cusco, through a virtual survey. The information was exported to the statistical software SPSS version 27.0 and Excel 2021. Results: the frequency of depression was 45.9 and anxiety was 34.4%. Regarding depression, it is estimated that there is a statistically significant relationship between depression with age and sex (0.530 and 0.580, p<0.05), in addition to a statistically significant relationship between the level of depression with protective equipment, COVID-19 diagnosis (0.550 and 0.450, p<0.05). Regarding anxiety, there are parameters that have a statistically significant relationship between the level of anxiety with age and sex (0.480 and 0.550, p<0.05), in addition to a statistically significant relationship between the level of anxiety and work aspects such as the use of equipment. of protection, the diagnosis of COVID-19 and the interval between shifts (0.480, 0.490 and 0.520 respectively, p<0.05). Conclusions: It was concluded that exposure to COVID 19 Areas affects the mental health of staff. There is a relationship between sociodemographic and work characteristics with symptoms of depression and anxiety.
