The objective of this research was to establish the relationship that exists between emotional intelligence and cell phone dependence in adolescents at the secondary level in an educational institution, Cusco - 2023. The methodology used was a quantitative approach, correlational scope and non-experimental design. The sample included 130 students to whom the EQi-YV BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory by Reuven BarOn and the Cell Phone Dependence Test by Mariano Choliz were applied. The results show that the majority of students presented medium levels (66%) of emotional intelligence, they also showed medium levels (76%) in stress management and low levels (58%) in mood; Regarding cell phone dependence, students have high levels of 47%. In relation to stress management and cell phone dependence, a significance of (p=0.05) was observed. Likewise, the female sex presented a significance relationship of (p= 0.042), showing a greater dependence on cell phones compared to the male sex. In addition, the fifth grade of secondary school presented a significance relationship of (p= 0.032). It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and cell phone dependence in adolescents at the secondary level of an educational institution Cusco 2023 with (p=0.000); Therefore, the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected.
