The purpose of this research study is to propose a geometric design of a cycle path for avenue 28 de Julio and avenue Alameda Pachacuteq in the city of Cusco. To get a good design and at the same time take care of the safety of the users who use it, this geometric design is based on Colombia’s Cycle Infrastructure Guide, this guide does not pretend to be mandatory, but it served me to obtain recommendations, design standards and guidelines of good practices, based on successful national and international experiences. It is a compilation of international manuals such as the manual of Mexico (ITDP Mexico & I-CE, 2011), the United States (NACTO, 2014), Germany (Haase, 2012), Denmark (Celis Consult, 2014) and the Netherlands (CROW, 2007), but for more details it can be consulted in each manual. The geometric design of the bike lane seeks to integrate the bike as an environmentally friendly, economical, healthy and inclusive transport. Having taken the section of the study area, a preliminary study was carried out to study the route to observe the signs, intersections and traffic lights in order to see what elements were missing for the safety of the cyclist. As a second instance, information on vehicle traffic was collected, and a detailed topographic survey was also carried out showing the streets, bus stops, vertical and horizontal signs, traffic lights and intersections. Also the study of vehicle flow based on IMDA to determine the number of vehicles, determine the maximum time of demand and the level of service where the roundabouts where there is more traffic conflict were taken as reference points.
