Chronic childhood malnutrition can limit the intellectual and cognitive capacity of infants throughout their lives. This problem is alarming in the department of Cusco, especially when the concentration of malnutrition in the population is examined, where there is a gap of 24 percentage points between the levels of anemia between the richest socioeconomic stratum and the poorest stratum. Under this context, the research aims to analyze the levels of concentration of malnutrition according to the socioeconomic strata of the Cusco region in 2017 and identify the relationship with access to basic health services, educational level of parents and the degree of nutrition of the mother. The study uses a non-experimental and cross-sectional design with data from the Demographic and Family Health Survey - ENDES for the year 2017. The regression analysis and the calculation of the concentration index are performed. The main results of the research find that the level of concentration of malnutrition is more prevalent in the low socioeconomic strata of the child population between 0.5 and 5 years old in the department of Cusco. The concentration level found is -0.11, this means that a redistribution of 11% of nutrition is needed from the richest half to the poorest half to equalize the distribution. On the other hand, the level of concentration of malnutrition is more prevalent in the lower socioeconomic strata and is associated with the lack of access to basic health services and poor maternal nutrition. Finally, no significant effects of educational level have been found on undernutrition, suggesting that the effect is driven mostly by the mother's nutrition and access to basic services.
