The shortage of organ donation is a major health problem and in recent years the waiting list has increased. Therefore, the emergency nurse plays an important role in the early recognition of potential donors by initiating appropriate nursing care for the transplant. The objective of the review was to identify nursing care for the maintenance of organ donors in the emergency service. Using the evidence-based nursing (EBE) methodology, the review focused on the clinical question: What is the nursing care in the maintenance of organ donors in the emergency service? To answer this question, the BVS, SCIELO, Google Scholar, SCOPUS and Web of Science databases were consulted, compiling nine articles of which one was selected using the CASPE list for systematic review in the critical comment. The review concludes that nursing care should focus on maintaining hemodynamic balance to preserve the main organs to be donated. These interventions include mechanical ventilation, endocrine management, organ preservation, eye care, support for family members' grief, and promoting a culture of donation.
