Introduction: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune, chronic and inflammatory disease of imprecise origin. RA causes deformities, causes physical limitations and reduces life expectancy, due to risk factors. Objectives: Describe the considerations for the physiotherapy treatment of a patient with advanced stage rheumatoid arthritis during the period July-December 2023. Description of work: The physiotherapeutic approach based on scientific evidence for the treatment of a patient with advanced rheumatoid arthritis was organized in four phases. It consisted of sessions with passive, active, aerobic, isometric, respiratory, joint mobility and strengthening exercises, with the application of manual therapy (myofascial release), thermotherapy, cryotherapy, tens, ultrasound and use of orthoses in both hands. Conclusion: Based on scientific evidence, the considerations used for the application of physical therapy sessions for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis allowed improving the functionality of the upper and lower extremities, increasing joint range, reducing joint stiffness, gaining muscle mass in hypotrophied muscles and increase muscle strength in weak muscles. The specific evaluation was of utmost importance to ensure favorable results and prevent subsequent problems.
