Objective: determine the association between low birth weight and the development of anemia in children aged 6 to 35 months participating in the ENDES 2022. Methodology: an analytical cross-sectional study was carried out including a population of 9,772 children aged 6 to 35 months belonging to the database from one of the most important statistical investigations of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in Peru, the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES); applied throughout the year 2022 to occupied homes on the coast, in the highlands and in the jungle. After applying the selection criteria, the population was divided according to the presence or absence of anemia; for the bivariate analysis of the variables, the chi-square test was used, and for the multivariate analysis, Poisson logistic regression was used. Results: the frequency of anemia in children aged 6 to 35 months with a history of low birth weight was 58%; the frequency of anemia in children aged 6 to 35 months without a history of low birth weight was 44%; low birth weight as a factor associated with anemia in children from 6 to 35 months with a prevalence ratio of 1.77 which was significant (p<0.05); in the multivariate analysis, prematurity and maternal anemia were identified as factors associated with childhood anemia in children from 6 to 35 months. Conclusions: there is an association between low birth weight and the development of anemia in children aged 6 to 35 months participating in the ENDES 2022
