Introduction: Tuberculosis, a global public health problem with an increase in multidrug-resistant cases in our country, is a current concern. This leads us to evaluate Pyrazinamide, an antibiotic with efficacy on latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacilli. BACTEC MGIT 960 is a method to determine susceptibility to Pyrazinamide, approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its reliability and speed in making the diagnosis of resistance, if the appropriate technical considerations are taken into account. Objective: Detail the technical considerations necessary to effectively carry out the Pyrazinamide susceptibility test in Mycobacterium tuberculosis using the BACTEC MGIT 960 system. Description of the work: Technical considerations for the BACTEC MGIT 960 method were identified, supported by scientific evidence from recent years. According to what was collected, adjustments related to the preparation of the inoculum were made in the protocol that exists for susceptibility to Pyrazinamide in BACTEC MGIT 960. Result: It was found that technical considerations allowed improving the results obtained by the BACTEC MGIT 960 method for Pyrazinamide. Conclusion: Correctly executing the technical considerations for BACTEC MGIT 960 for Pyrazinamide Susceptibility guarantees the reliability of the test.
