The present work considered the technical criteria for the construction of an earthen dam for the Ismu qocha, located in the headwaters of the basin, Alto Marañon V inter-basin, in the town of Jose Olaya, district of Baños, province of Lauricocha, region of Huanuco. The qocha is located at 4346 meters above sea level, and will allow storing 262,447.13 m3, and a discharge flow of 61 l/s, this will directly benefit 16 families, corresponding to 64 inhabitants and 25 hectares of crops approximately, which will guarantee the availability of water in the town center of José Olaya; and indirectly 65 families, corresponding to 195 inhabitants and 95 hectares for agriculture and livestock. This project has a budget of S/.149,258.63 nuevos soles. The work consists of an earth dam with a length of 58 meters, a height of 1.60 meters and a crown width of 2.50 meters and its works of art "intake, discharge and spillway". The intake and discharge structure is joined by an 18-meter, 6-inch diameter hpde pipe. The discharge structure consists of a valve box and a 1.30 x 1.30 meter reinforced concrete safety box; the intake structure consists of a ½"@1" smooth steel grate and the spillway is 38 meters long and 0.6 meters deep. The spillway is 38 meters long and 0.6 meters deep and consists of a lateral spillway, a transition zone and a dissipation pool; the maximum flow is 2.76 m3/s, this parameter is calculated using the regionalization formula for a return period of 100 years.
