The risk landscape in the field of cybersecurity is constantly evolving, becoming increasingly complex and encompassing a wider scope. In view of this situation, it is essential to establish strategies to optimize efficiency and maximize the return on investment in cybersecurity solutions. Mathematical models can be classified into two main categories: deterministic and stochastic. Each type of model produces different results due to their underlying approaches and assumptions. These results contribute to improving risk management strategy from a vulnerability, cost and risk reduction perspective. However, in practice, they can be complex to interpret. Moreover, efficiency metrics and indicators are often abstract and ill-suited to the business context. The developed method allows to collect, organize and optimize the selection of a portfolio of predefined cybersecurity projects, considering their contribution to risk reduction within a specific budgetary framework. This approach offers ways to measure investment efficiency based on cybersecurity value and cybersecurity Return on investment. The results obtained have shown significant improvements, reaching up to a 145.6% positive variance in cybersecurity value and a 40.4% improvement in security Return on investment in a business scenario in the basic education sector.
