When analyzing the effect of quality control on the profitability of a project that manages its key performance indicators (KPIs), it has been found that several construction SMEs in southern Peru are unable to position themselves in the market due to inadequate monitoring of organizational performance indices due to deficient administrative management and monitoring of their projects, which directly affect the return on capital. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the impact of quality control on the operational, economic, and financial KPIs of the case study, to assess and determine the impact index on utility. The investigation is based on a survey carried out on a non-probabilistic sample of construction SMEs, from which the deficient existing quality management is rescued. Based on this, in the case study, a quality management system aligned with the recommendations of the PMBOK guide, and the ISO 9001 standard was implemented. The results achieved were interpreted through different scientific and documentary investigations, which show that the primary KPIs, according to the order of importance, are linked to quality (ROB, RNC, and PL), cost (margin and ROI), scope and time, emphasizing in the present study the relevance of quality management always accompanied of the cost. It was also shown that by investing 2% in quality, profitability could be improved, reversing a project initially in loss, and achieving customer satisfaction.
