The research had as objective: to determine the relationship between the habits of study, academic skills related to the academic performance of the students of the speciality of elementary of the Faculty of education of the National University of the Peruvian Amazon - 2014, the method used was quantitative, design experimental, descriptive, correlational, allowing you to describe each of the variables considered in the study. The instruments used were: questionnaire for the descriptive-comparative analysis of the indicators of the independent variable habits of study, questionnaire for the descriptive-comparative analysis of the independent variable academic skills and the registration form for the analysis of the dependent variable academic achievement. Data were analyzed through the statistical program SPSS version 22.0. For the analysis univariate, has employed the statistical descriptive to represent the data expressed in frequencies, percentages and tables. In the bivariate analysis was used the non-parametric test, Chi square ( 2 X ). Analysis of 171 students (100%), (78.9%) have appropriate study habits, (82.5%) have appropriate academic skills, (54.4%) are performing well.The first specific hypothesis was tested: study habits are significantly related to the academic performance of students (τ_B = 0,676; p < 0,05). The second specific hypothesis was tested: academic skills are significantly related to the academic performance of students (τ_B = 0,629; p < 0,05). Therefore the hypothesis is proved General for research: "study habits, academic skills relate significantly to the academic performance of students in the specialty of primary from the education faculty of the National University of the Peruvian Amazon, Iquitos - 2014".
