With the aim of knowing the species and characteristics of tarantula burrows, two types of forests belonging to the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the National University of the Peruvian Amazon were evaluated, the burrow registry was obtained through meticulous searches in six transects linear, three located in the forest little intervened and three in the moderately intervened. Five species were recorded, Megaphobema velvetosoma, Pamphobeteus petersi, Avicularia urticans, Neischnocolus yupanqui and Neischnocolus sp., The most abundant were the first two species. The averages of the width and height of the burrows varied in relation to the size of the species, the highest average corresponded to M. velvetosoma (width 7.02 cm, height 5.52 cm) and the smallest to P. petersi (width 6, 17 cm, height 5.12 cm). The mean relative temperatures and humidities inside the burrows varied (minimum 27.05 to 27.51 ° C and maximum 27.39 to 27.79 ° C); (minimum relative humidity 80.75 to 83.04% and maximum 82.33 to 85.19%). Pearson's correlation coefficients indicated positive correlations between burrow width and height with tarantula body morphometric characteristics. In relation to the soil relief, M. velvetosoma and P. petersi prefer to build their burrows in places with small slopes. In conclusion, both types of forests host tarantula species that in the future could be used as bioindicators of forest health in the Peruvian Amazon.
