The objective of the work was to characterize the essential oil isolated from the fruits of Xylopia micans RE Fries, extracted using petroleum ether to avoid denaturation of low-boiling components, the physicochemical parameters were determined and for the identification of its components a high-resolution gas chromatograph was used. Coupled to a detector of mass spectrometry. The results were as follows: Density 0,8064 g/cm3, refractive index 1,4620, solubility 0.6 volumes in ethanol, the colorful reactions were positive for alcohols and aldehydes, the chromatogram reported 38 components, but there are actually 2 components the same only that they separate at different retention times, consequently there are only 37 components: 12 monoterpenes, 16 sesquiterpenes and 9 hydrocarbons. The most abundant were: Elemol 15,58%, Sabinene 11,71%, 2,1-isoproyl-5-methyl-9-methylene-bicyclo- [4,4,0] -dec-1-ene 8,49%, ?-thuyen 7,04%, ?-elemene 6,64%, 8-isopropyl-5-methyl-2-methylene-1,2,3,4,4a, 5,6,7-octahydronaphthalene 4,91% and Amorphene 4,22%. The essential oil of Xylopia micans R.E Fries from the Peruvian Amazon has been able to produce sand substances that are not present in any of the species of the genus Xylopia constitutes a new chemotype.
