Social spending is of vital importance to alleviate the poverty situation of the population, an expense that is channeled through the different social programs. Loreto is one of the largest departments in Peru and with a large population dispersion. This research aims to determine the relationship between social spending and social programs in the department of Loreto, in the period 2014 - 2018. For this purpose, the following Quantitative research, Correlational level and Non-Experimental design was developed. The study concludes that there is a direct relationship between social spending and the budgetary execution of social programs during the series under study, since the Correlation Coefficient (r) corroborates this by having obtained a value of r = 0. 913022739; and, in addition, social programs determine the behavior of social spending because the Correlation Coefficient (R2) reached the value of R2 = 0.833610522. The analysis of the social programs considered the three main ones: Qali Warma, FONCODES and Pensión 65, and the others were grouped into Other Programs. The total expenditure of social programs amounted to the sum of S /. 1,215,235,533; being Qali Warma the one that more resources executed with S/. 514,880,653 (42.37%), followed by Pension 65 with S/. 141,970,808 (11.68%) and finally FONCODES with S/. 92,843,387 (7.64%).
