The research study on sociodemographic characteristics and overload of the family caregiver of the patient in Hemodialysis, Regional Hospital of Loreto, Iquitos 2017, aimed to determine the relationship between the sociodemographic characteristics and the overload of the family caregiver to the patient in Hemodialysis, Regional Hospital of Loreto. The method used was quantitative and the design was not experimental, descriptive, correlational, the sample consisted of 70 caregivers. The instruments were a data sheet of sociodemographic characteristics of the family caregiver of the patient in Hemodialysis and a Scale of assessment of the overload of the family caregiver, prepared by Zarit (Caregiver Burde Interview). The results were: the average age of the 70 family caregivers was 46.41 years, 71.4% were female, 37.1% were husband (a), 44.3% were secondary education, 40.1% had independent occupation, 48.5% had no overload, of them 32.9% with mild overload and 18.6% with heavy overload. Through the chi-square test of Pearson, with a level of significance (p <0.05). A statistically significant relationship was found between: age and burden of the family caregiver (p = 0.0120, <0.05), sex and overload of the family caregiver (p = 0.000057, <0.05), degree of instruction and overload of the family caregiver (p = 0.025, <0.05) and occupation and overload of the family caregiver (p = 0.001, <0.05); no statistically significant relationship was found between: kinship and overload of the family caregiver (p = 0.899, <0.05). In conclusion there are sociodemographic characteristics that can affect the quality of life of the family caregiver of the patient in hemodialysis and that can also affect the quality of the care provided,
