This study determined the in vitro antibacterial activity of the Zingiber officinale ethanolic extract "Ginger" by Macrodilution and Diffusion in agar methods. Pseudomona aeruginosa ATCC 27833, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 were the strains used. On the one hand, as a positive control, Gentamicin 10mg was used. On the other hand, it was used as negative control, a 1:1 ethanol / water solution. The results show that, with the agar diffusion method, the ethanolic extract of Zingiber officinale from Iquitos and Lamas did not present antibacterial activity in regard to E. coli and P. aeruginosa at concentrations of 12mg and 6mg, since the halo of inhibition did not show up; Compared to Staphylococcus aureus, the sample from Lamas presented a halo of inhibition of 9.3 ± 0.6 mm and 8.7 ± 1.2 mm at the concentration of 12 mg / ml and 6 mg / ml respectively, whereas for the ethanolic extract from Iquitos, a concentration of 12 mg / Ml had a halo of inhibition of 10.7 ± 1.2 and a concentration of 6mg / ml submitted a halo of 9.0 ± 1.0. Through the macrodilution method, the extract from Lamas proved to be poorly active in comparison with S. aureus (MIC: 8mg / ml) in regard to E. coli and P. aeruginosa which showed up to be inactive. The ethanolic extract from Iquitos in contrast with Staphylococcus aureus (MIC: 16mg / ml) showed to be inactive. To sum up, the ethanolic extract of Zingiber officinale does not present antibacterial activity at concentrations of 6 and 12mg / ml.
