In the present investigation the effect of two diets inoculated with the bacteria Bacillus subtilis and Paenibacillus sp. was analyzed, in the larval development of Hermetia illucens. This development was evaluated by measuring the mass, length, percentage of mortality, and percentage of lipids of the larvae, after 11 days of having fed the larvae with the inoculated diets. These data were subsequently analyzed with the ANOVA statistical method. The results indicate that the diet based on non-sterile depletion inoculated with Paenibacillus sp is associated with higher survival (99%) and lipid concentration (38,5%) compared to the diet inoculated with Bacillus subtilis. On the other hand, the diet inoculated with Bacillus subtilis is associated with greater mass (0.2789 g) and size (2.40 cm). The different diets, chicken feed or non-sterilized waste, have a fundamental role on the growth of Hermetia illucens, once inoculated with the bacteria. According to this research, the inoculation of Bacillus subtilis and Paenibacillus sp. bacteria in the diets of chicken feed and sterilized waste is beneficial for the growth of Hermetia illucens larvae. It is important to continue conducting experiments on the effect of other diets inoculated with these bacteria.
