This study aimed to determine what factors are related to self-medication in the management of dental pain in patients treated in public hospitals in the city of Iquitos, 2015".The methodology used was quantitative, job design that was not experimental, correlational, cross. The study sample consisted of 223 patients with a history of dental pain as the primary inclusion. The instrument used was a form of data collection orally in which independent variables (sex, age, place of origin, level of education, occupation) and the dependent variable (self-mediation). Results: The prevalence of self-medication was 89.2 % of which 42.1 % of patients who selfmedicate are in the age group 18 -29 years (p = 0.494) was found that 51.6 % of the patients who self-medicate belong to the genus female (p = 0.023).41.7 % of patients who self-medicate come from the marginal urban area (p = 0.001). 57.0 % of patients who self-medicate have the level of secondary education (p = 0.018) and found that 35.0 % of patients who self-medicate were businessman occupation (p = 0.000). In conclusion There is significant relationship between self-medication for the management of dental pain and some associated factors exception age (p=0,494) in patients treated in public hospitals in the city of Iquitos, 2015.
