This study was realized with objective of demonstrate the existence of caffeine in stem and bark of Paullinia alata (R and P) G. Don (Guarana Bajeal). A phytochemical Screening of the alcoholic-aqueous extract ( l 0:90 v/v) was previously deveJoped with samples ofthe stem and bark of Paullinia alata (R and P) G. Don (Guarana Bajeal) with a simple test of coloration, these consist in dissolvíng a sample separated for sublimation in three drops of concentrate HN03, evaporating to dryness and adding two drops, concentrate NH.iOH a purple coloured is formed indicating presence of Caffeine, Whith a method of selectíve adsorption in MgO, it is obtained 6 grams of crystaffized pure caffeine, which was verified in in thin layer chromatography with solvent mixture: Ethyacetate-Methanol-Acetic acid (80:10:10 v/v) yield a valúe Rf x 100 = 41 cm, is an elocuent test that sample it is Caffeine for comparison with literature date1. The melting point in equipment Fisher' Johns have a value 235° C, like to Caffeine pure. Toe sample dissolved in MeOH in UV-Visible spectrometry yield ), max 273 nm, is similar with the value reported by the Iiterature bay Caffeine. 19 Testing of spectrometry of RMN of Protons and carbon -13, yield chemical shift, that permitt to demonstrate that isolate substance Caffeine.
