The great interest in the study of plant species is concentrated in their chemical richness. The objective of this work was to evaluate the antioxidant activity in vitro of the leaf extract of Laportea aestuans L. "ishanga colorada" and Mangifera indica L. "mango chico rico" by 1,1-diphenil-2-picryl-hydrazyl - DPPH. Leaf samples of plant species collected for convenience: pulverized leaves, macerated in methanol for seven days and subsequently filtered. Sample solutions were prepared at concentrations of 4, 8, 16, 32 and 50 mg / mL; for DPPH a concentration of 0.1 mMol; the readings were made on the UV / vis spectrometer equipment at 517 nm. The results obtained for L. aestuans L. leaves IC50 = 21.14 mg / mL and IC50 = 2.93 mg / mL for M. indica L. Regarding the reaction capacity with the stable free radical DPPH, the IC50 that is obtained was lower in leaves of M. indica L. and it is concluded that they exhibit a higher antioxidant capacity compared to leaves of L. aestuans L.
