The objective of this research work is to determine the relationship between learning strategies and reading comprehension in incoming students at the San Luis Gonzaga National University of Ica-2020, the study is framed within the quantitative approach and the type of research was descriptive correlational. , transectional non-experimental design, we worked with a census sample because 100% of the population was selected considering it a manageable number of subjects, to whom two measurement instruments were applied, for the variable learning strategies and reading comprehension , both instruments have corresponding validity and reliability. As a result of the descriptive part, it was evidenced that the majority of the respondents, 72.6% (61) indicate that the learning strategy is high, followed by 17.9% (15) subscribe that it is moderate, finally , 9.5% (8) show that it is very high. These data are confirmed by the corresponding stratigraphic data, where the average is 71.29%, which according to the levels and ranges, the learning strategies are high. Likewise, it is observed that the majority of respondents, 44.0% (37) indicate that reading comprehension is moderate, followed by 40.5% (34) agree that it is high, the other 10.7% (9 ) indicates that it is low; finally, 4.8% (4) shows that it is very high. These data are confirmed by the corresponding stratigraphic data, where the average is 74.73%, which according to the levels and ranges, reading comprehension is moderate. As soon as the hypothesis test was obtained, a Pearson R correlation coefficient =0.785, which is interpreted at 99.99%**, the correlation is significant at the bilateral 0.05 level, interpreting it as a high positive relationship between the variables, with a p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), where the null hypothesis Ho is rejected: p ≤ 0 and the alternative hypothesis Ha is accepted: p > 0. With a confidence level of 95%, it is concluded: There is a relationship between learning strategies and reading comprehension, that is, the better use of learning strategies, the better results will be obtained in reading comprehension, also according to Pearson's correlation of 0.785** represents a high positive correlation.
