The objective of this research work is to determine the relationship between the language teaching methodology and English language proficiency in fifth grade secondary school students at the Javier Heraud Secondary School, Lima, 2022. The approach was quantitative. Non-experimental type and correlational design, 30 students were the study sample. The technique used was survey and observation. The instrument used was the questionnaire with a Likert scale and record of scores. The validity of the instrument based on expert judgments was 90% and the reliability with Cronbach's Alpha was 0.835. The descriptive results indicate that of 100% of the students, 33.3% consider that the teacher's language teaching methodology is bad, 33.3% that it is average and 33.3% that it is good; while, the levels of English language proficiency are 13.3% disapproved, 26.7% fair, 30% good, 20% very good and 10% exceptional. The general inferential analysis, the Rho coefficient equal to 0.496, indicates a moderate positive direct correlation, this implies that when the teaching methodology used by the teacher is appropriate, English language proficiency is more optimal in fifth grade students. secondary school at the Javier Heraud Secondary School, Lima, 2022.
