The objective of this research work is to evaluate how the Philosophy of History course contributes to the scientific formation of the historian in students of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. The study was carried out with a quantitative approach, the type of Applied research and the design is non-experimental, correlational. The population consisted of a total of 59 subjects between students and graduates, the sampling was non-probabilistic and intentional. Two instruments were applied: to assess the relevance of the Philosophy of History course, an objective written test of 17 cognitive-type items with multiple alternative responses was applied; and to measure the historian's scientific training variable, a 21-item questionnaire with a Likert-type scale. The contrasting of the hypotheses was carried out using the Spearman correlation coefficient statistic. It is concluded that there is evidence that the Philosophy of History course contributes significantly to the scientific training of the Historian in UNMSM students (Spearman's Rho =0.297) and at the level of dimensions: the course in reference contributes to the development of the theoretical dimension of his scientific training (Spearman's Rho =0.260) and from the conceptions of History it contributes to the scientific training of the historian (Spearman's Rho =0.268).
