The main objective of this research work to determine the relationship between overweight or obesity and school performance in students of the 3rd and 4th grade of primary school of the I.E.P. Our Lady of Mercy-Lima. To do this, the quantitative approach was followed, being of a prospective observational type with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational design, a general inductive and basic descriptive method. It had a non-probabilistic convenience sample made up of 79 students to whom the instruments were applied: observation guide and content analysis sheet, collecting data that were statistically treated with Excel and SPSS to establish the correlation coefficient between the variables by means of Spearman's Rho statistic. The results obtained regarding overweight or obesity were that 64.56% of students are overweight, while 35.44% are obese. Regarding school performance, 64.6% have outstanding achievement, 34.2% have planned achievement and 1.3% at the beginning. Finally, regarding the correlation of variables, a Spearman Rho coefficient of 0.037 was obtained, which was interpreted as non-significant, rejecting the alternative hypothesis. Therefore, it was concluded that there is no relationship between overweight or obesity and school performance in primary school students from the I.E.P. Our Lady of Mercy-Lima.
