In the process of obtaining the health registration of medicines among the countries of the Andean Community (CAN), we found problems at the registration level associated with stability studies, which must be coupled and comply with the regulations of each CAN country. Therefore, this situation generates additional expenses for the pharmaceutical industries since new trials may have to be included in the stability studies and adjustments made at the documentary level, which leads to delaying the registration of the health registry and therefore the marketing of a variety of medications. Currently there are no approved regulations for drug stability studies in the CAN countries; each country considers specific regulations that follow international guidelines such as the ICH and the WHO and others specific to each country; Therefore, in the present work the review and analysis of the differences and similarities of the regulations for drug stability studies of each member country of the CAN was carried out, finding greater similarities than differences, such as climate zone IVb. and the support of tentative or proposed useful life based on accelerated and long-term stability studies. Likewise, the approval elements were evaluated, resulting in sufficient elements that determine the feasibility of said approval of the stability studies. Finally, in this study a proposal was prepared for the approval of stability studies in accordance with Decision 827 “Guidelines for the preparation, adoption and application of technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures in the Member Countries of the Andean Community and to community level.
